The Power of Giving Back: Join The Solicitors’ Charity* Board to Make a Difference
If you are a solicitor who wants to make a difference, then now is the time to consider becoming a voluntary Board Trustee at The Solicitors’ Charity.
The Solicitor’s Charity has been helping people in the legal profession since 1858 and our work is guided by our Board of Trustees. As a new Trustee, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the direction of the charity and help increase our reach and raise our profile, ensuring that we can support even more solicitors during their times of need. You will be joining a talented group of trustees – both solicitors and other experts.
Our focus is on supporting solicitors to become self-sustaining during periods of difficulty and we’re committed to improving their lives through the support we provide. By joining our Board, you’ll be contributing to this important mission and be a part of making a real difference.
We are currently looking for up to four new trustees who are or have been solicitors. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with specialisms in charity law, safeguarding, cyber security or marketing, to help strengthen the Board, but would welcome interest from anyone who is, or has been on the Solicitors’ Roll for England and Wales.
We actively seek to broaden the diversity of our Board in all aspects to enrich our collective decision-making and governance. We welcome applications from candidates who may not have previous trustee experience, but who share our values and demonstrate strategic thinking with outstanding communication skills. Applicants should also be able to probe and appropriately challenge both the Executive and Board colleagues, deploying a collaborative approach and sound judgement.
See the comments below from some of our current Trustees about being on the Board at The Solicitors’ Charity. Haroon Qayum said:
“While I have a busy life with my work and family commitments, I feel it is so important to support The Solicitors’ Charity in the great work it carries out as much as I can. It’s my way of giving back to the profession.”
On joining the Board, James Brennan explained:
“I’m bringing a fresh pair of eyes as well as my business and trustee experience and really look forward to making a positive contribution.”
Shams Rahman, who has been part of the Board for over six years, said:
“I joined The Solicitors’ Charity as a Trustee because I wanted to give something back to the profession that has given me so much. I was motivated to be involved in a national organisation where we could actually help others.
I feel I make a positive contribution as a Trustee, particularly with my commercial expertise and my specialism as a leading London Litigation lawyer. My whole focus is on moving things forward, looking at bigger projects and the bigger picture.”
If you’re looking for an opportunity to make a difference, we invite you to join us on this journey. Together, we can support solicitors when things get tough.
